Smart Communications, Inc., a local telecommumication company, joins the Department of Education in making the DepEd Commons free to be accessed by learners and teachers.
Images of the memorandum about the partnership was posted on the Facebook page of DepEd Undersecretary Alain Pascua last April 22, 2020. Based on the said document signed by the undersecretary, Smart will provide free access to DepEd Commons to all its subscribers through its whitelisting capabilities.
Smart, Sun, and Talk N' Text users can access the online learning platform until May 31, 2020. This collaboration aims to make learning continue for the students in the time of crisis. Prior to this, Globe Telecom responded to the call of DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones in making DepEd Commons accessible without incurring data charges.
