Public school teachers to report for work on June 1- DepEd


DepEd Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones said in the Laging Handa Press Briefing yesterday that all public elementary and secondary school teachers will return to work starting June 1, 2020. The education chief mentioned that the teachers will report either physically or virtually as they will finish their two- month vacation.

It is expected that the teaching personnel will conduct enrollment process and undergo capacity building on new lessons. For the enrollment, the faculty has the decision to have virtual or printed process. The department is aiming to do upskilling activities for teachers. DepEd has made steps for the past months to help the teachers in preparing for the new normal in the field of education such as the launching of DepEd Commons and providing free hands- on webinars under DepEd EdTech Unit. This month, the unit announced on their Facebook Page the upcoming webinar sessions that will help teachers prepare their lessons as delivery of instruction may come in various ways.

Classes are set to start on August 24, 2020. The last day of the school year 2020- 2021 will be on April 30, 2020.
