Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones announced that the first day of the school year 2020- 2021 is August 24, 2020. The announcement was made by the education chief in the Laging Handa Public Briefing this morning.
Briones mentioned that classes will formally start through physical or virtual set- up. The Department made the decision as part of the safety measures due to coronavirus pandemic.
DepEd considers the safety of its personnel particularly teachers and the students in opening the schools. The department will implement contingency plan to ensure that there is continuity of learning in the time of health crisis.
As part of the beginning of the school year, DepEd gave the signal to all the public schools to have enrollment from June 1 to 30. The schools may choose from printed or virtual way of enrolling the learners.
The last day of the next school year will be on April 30, 2021.
