Introduce Yourself Challenge | Oral Communication in Context Performance Task

Welcome to my class! It is our first day of meeting and I am excited to know you. How nice to have you talk and share interesting information about yourself in front of the class. However, the pandemic is restricting us to have face-to-face interaction. As we are in the stage of getting to know each other, I want you to showcase yourself most creatively. This health crisis cannot stop us from building rapport. 

Your task is to introduce yourself most creatively. You are encouraged to record yourself. If ever that you do not have the gadget to work with, there is an option for you to accomplish it. Here are the steps that you need to follow. 

General instructions:

1. In your presentation, you must be able to mention your name, your place, your class, and your section. 
2. Tell at least one interesting fact about you. It could be your like or dislike. 
3. In the end, state your expectation about the subject. 

For those who have gadgets

Video

1. Record yourself in a portrait or landscape orientation. 
2. Wear decent clothing and work in a convenient area. 
3. Editing is allowed such as transition. Voice adjustment (e.g., changing the sound to a chipmunk) is not allowed. 
4. The length of the finished material must be 30 seconds to 1 minute. 

Audio

1. Record yourself speaking conversationally. 
2. Try to record with minimal noise. 
3. Using the voice message of Messenger is highly encouraged. Edited clips are allowed. 
4. The length of the finished material must be 30 seconds to 1 minute. 

For those who have no gadgets

Paper

1. Write five to seven sentences about yourself in an informal/ conversational manner. 
2. You may apply designs in your paper, but not excessive. 
3. Putting a picture is optional. 

The performance task will be evaluated using a 5-point rating scale, 1 is the lowest and 5 is the highest score. 

Clear presentation (1-5)

The task has no errors in terms of grammar. The message is clear and correct. 

Creative presentation (1-5)

Creativity is highly observable in terms of how witty and innovative/unique the information is relayed. 

Standard (1-5)

All the instructions are properly followed. 

Submission (5 points)

This will be given automatically to the learner who will submit his/ her output.
