DepEd to give P 1,000 cash incentive on World Teachers' Day

Education secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones announced last Monday, September 7, 2020 that the public school teachers will receive Php 1,000 cash benefit on October 5 which is the World Teachers' Day celebration. She stated it during the National Teachers' Day Virtual Kick- Off when she delivered her speech as the keynote speaker.

The education chief honored all teachers in her speech including those retired and volunteers. She praised the efforts of the teachers who are doing their best just to make the start of classes in the next school year successful.

She mentioned that the department is doing its part for the teachers. She stated that the benefits of teachers have been increasing. She said the teachers have received their salaries since the lockdown. She also relayed that DepEd continues to pay contributions on PhilHealth, PAG-IBIG, and retirement and insurance premiums. The department also released teachers' benefits such as uniform allowance, Php 5,000 cash gift, and productivity enhancement incentive.

DepEd allocated Php 900 million budget for this incentive based on the virtual press briefing transpired August 17, 2020. Each teacher can withdraw Php 1,000 pesos from ATM.
