THANK YOU, MERCURY: I Received Face Masks and Vitamin from Country's Leading Drugstore

Hello, teachers.

My days are getting busier than ever. Inasmuch as I want to write more posts on my blog, I cannot as I am doing video- mediated instructional materials I am going to use as supplement for the modules the Department of Education will give for our learners. I am also supplying content on our school blog/ website. I am doing updates on our preparation for the new normal. The faculty wants to show to our stakeholders that we are working hard for the start of classes of the new school year.

In fact, we are not yet ending our school- based Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela. We are trying to safeguard our workplace from COVID-19. We are thankful that we have alumni and local public officials who have extended their hands to make the school opening successful. We are grateful for the donations the alumni handed to us. We are happy that our barangay leaders helped us in conducting remote and drop box enrollment. This school year is challenging. It is taxing as there are lots of things to iron out. But, with unity, everything is surmountable.

Speaking of donation, I am glad to tell here on my blog that I and my colleagues received face masks and vitamins from Mercury Drug through the corporation's foundation. How? Let me tell the story.

Our Brigada Eskwela coordinator, Mr. Tony Jr. Cervera wrote a email to the the president/ manager of Mercury Drug last June 30. He asked for a partnership with the drugstore for our school maintenance activity. His request was granted as he received emails last August 3 and 6. The faculty was jubilant when he forwarded screenshots of emails to our group chat.

He coordinated with the employees of the drugstore on how the school can claim the donation. Sir Tony was informed that he needs to go Nepo Mart Alaminos Branch for the awarding last Wednesday, August 26. Two representatives of Mercury Drug handed boxes of face masks, vitamins, and toothpaste.

Based on the letter, the foundation donated 24 cases of disposable face masks. Each case or box has 50 pieces. Moreover, seven cases Northfield Vitamin C 500 mg capsule were given. For that, a teacher has 30 pieces of the said vitamin. The two health essentials are for the staff as stated in the letter. On the other hand, 192 pieces of Colgate Total toothpaste will be given to students. The distribution will be slated during the dry run of our school of the chosen learning modality. The parents will accept the toothpaste on behalf of their children.

I wrote an article about the generosity of Mercury Drug on our school website and Facebook page. My post was shared by the foundation and got heart reactions there. I am happy that my writing is read by other people online.

Receiving the products is a blessing for me. Since the lockdown, I am only using cloth mask. We struggled to buy surgical mask from drugstores. Now I can try how to wear one. I appreciate the care of Mercury Drug for teachers. It is nice to know that there are private entities who are supportive for teachers. Thank you, Mercury Drug. You are not only serving safe medicines but also love and protection. With that, I will take care of myself for me to help others.
