Globe Telecom, a local telecommunication company, responded to the call of Education Secretary Leonor Magtolis Briones in making the access of DepEd Commons free. In the press release of the department, learners and teachers can visit the the newly- launched online learning platform without incurring data charges under Globe or TM- powered gadgets.

Secretary Briones stressed out that education must continue in spite the crisis with the help of the private sector. She was grateful for the company's generosity. This partnership is supported by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and National Telecommunications Commission (NTC). The said government agencies will help in the delivery of public education services through connectivity.
Last month, the department launched the DepEd Commons last month as a way to have the learners study lessons amid COVID- 19 pandemic. The online platform contains instructional materials that teachers and learners can use. The teachers can modify the materials according to the needs of their learners. Because of the partnership with the telecommunication company, the users can access Globe eLibrary which has e-books and textbooks on different subjects.

Globe reminded everyone that links outside the DepEd Commons domain are not free of charge. To access the online platform, the users can go to https://commons.deped.gov.ph in a browser.
