The New Version of Me | A Manuscript Speech

This speech was written and delivered by Kyla Mae Caole during The Speech 2019, a classroom- based competition under the subject Oral Communication in Context. She won as champion. 

My courtesy to our school principal, Mrs. Esmenia Celeste, to our Oral Communication in Context teacher, Mr. Carl John Carolino, friends, ladies and gentlemen, a pleasant day to one and all.

This world is full of judgement, condemnation. The world makes you realize that you are alone forever, that no one likes you, that everyone hates you. When I was a child, I grew up with this kind of thoughts. I live the way I want. The darkness and negative thoughts surrounding me made my life miserable. I thought that the world will satisfy me. That this world will complete me but I was wrong. I did not break the chain of sin. I went with the flow of worldly things.

But now, I’m here in front of you to show the new version of me. I’m not doing this just for fame or just to be the center of attraction. My purpose is to inspire you, to motivate you and to show how great and how powerful my God is in changing me.

When I surrendered everything to Christ, I already feel that I am worthy, I feel valuable and I feel the love that is unconditional that no one can ever give. You may suffer from pain and rejection, but always remember everything has a reason because after that pain, you will receive the gift that you deserve, and remember that God will never reject you. Only people will reject you because people might not accept the new version of you. Some may judge, condemn you and not all of them are trustworthy. Beware!

Do not let the voice of others ruin you. Let the voice of God go inside you and direct your path. Let God do this job, let God be the center of our lives. God is always waiting, for you to open the door of your life. Don’t be afraid to surrender your life. Don’t be afraid to lose your friends because they did not accept the changes you make. Be strong and have courage because what can world offer you cannot compare of what God will give to you. The things here in this world are temporary, but living in Christ is permanent. The world shall soon dissolve like snow but the Kingdom of God is standing up there and waiting for you.

Do not let the voice of the world go to your head that tells you that you are nothing, you are not worth it. That is not true. Make your life colorful and the color of your life is Jesus. He will fulfill the emptiness. He will satisfy you because you are God’s masterpiece.

I suffer a lot of problems, struggles, maybe sometimes I’m tired but I will never give up. God’s promises are true because everyday is an opportunity to grow and to learn. I am proud that I am an army of God. I hope that everyone who has ears to hear this message treat this as a wake up call for them to let go of everything that stops them to grow and to give their life to Christ. That’s all and thank you.
